Earlier this year, the Nike Mid 77 Blazer’s caught my eye but they were sold out almost everywhere. So I opted not to get them. Fast forward to last weekend, I was doing some fall shopping and just knew those would go perfect with so many of my fall fits. So you guessed it, I got em.
Tuesday afternoon the Fedex driver arrived at my house and before bro could make it to the sidewalk, I was down the stairs and at the door. I tried them on and then decided to put them in my closet. As I reached up to place them perfectly beside my other Nike shoe boxes, God spoke this to me. “I’m changing your clothes.”
He was talking about the story of Joseph. Joseph was sent to prison because he was falsely accused of having “relations’ with the Potipher’s wife. While in prison he met the king’s cupbearer and chief baker and interpreted their dreams. Shortly after interpreting their dreams, the cupbearer was released from prison and the chief baker was hung as Joseph had interpreted. After being released back to the palace with Pharaoh, the cupbearer learned that Pharaoh needed a dream to be interpreted. Can you guess who he suggested for the job? You got it. Joseph.
Pharaoh SENT for Joseph and they quickly bought Joseph from the dungeon ( this alone is a whole word but I digress). Before making it to the palace, Joseph shaved and changed his clothes. Joseph interpreted the dream and eventually went from the dungeon ( a dark place), where he was using his gifts to the palace where he was later anointed Pharaoh’s right hand man.
I don’t know about you BUT, I’ve had seasons where I’ve felt like I was in a dark place and my dream wasn’t coming to pass. Through those experiences, I’m learning that God desires for me to trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6) and not take matters into my own hands (I’m a type A if you didn’t know).
I have to remind myself that Faith is the confidence in what I hope for and the evidence in things NOT seen (Hebrews 11:1).
As I was re-reading this story here are some of my personal takeaways…
- They will send for you
- You won’t have to do a thing but be in alignment with God.
- Joseph was literally in a dark place(dungeon), but it was where God wanted him at that time. God used the dark place to elevate Joseph to the palace.
- They will move you quickly
- They will move you quickly because your gift is needed to solve a problem.
- You will get to the palace so in the meantime perfect your gifts/talents where you are because you won’t have time when it’s your time.
- SN:Looking like you deserve the position is not enough.
- Change your clothes
- Have you ever heard the saying, “Don’t look like what you’ve been through?” Dress for where you’re going, not where you’re at.
- Your status will change
- Elevate. Elevate. Elevate. Your gifts will make room for you.
- They wont recognize you in your new place
- Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery. Years later, there was a famine in the land and he had the opportunity to be face to face with his brothers. Joseph knew who they were but they had no idea it was Joseph.
- The process will change you. You’ve matured into someone that the people from your past won’t recognize.
- When elevation happens don’t try to hold on to how people viewed you in the past.
- Your heart will remain pure
- You won’t seek revenge. You will always give God the glory.
Sometimes we want to hop in the microwave and pop out as “that girl”(currently trending on Youtube and TikTok) like a pop tart. Well that’s not how God does it. He does it through this thing called a process. God processes us so that what others see on the outside (clothes, status, etc.) is a result of the work that was done on the inside. (SN: Nothing wrong with being cute in the dungeon though sis. Ijs.)
Remember, when God does a thing, he does it from the inside out. I hope this encouraged you to let God process you from the inside out.
